At the Sunshine Coast Tour Company, we’re super passionate about all things Sunny Coast. We’ve made it our mission to put together informative blogs for locals and tourists.
It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time visiting the Sunshine Coast or you’re a seasoned vet, our blogs have something for everyone.
The Charm
The famous Hastings Street is so full of charm it brings warmth to my heart just thinking about it. Hastings Street bustles day and night with locals, holidaymakers, second homeowners and international tourists.
From cafes to restaurants, bars to boutiques and galleries to gift shops, there is such a great range, it is quickly apparent why this little street in South East Queensland is so attractive and popular.
Noosa, located at the Northern end of the Sunshine Coast, is home to some of Queensland’s most expensive and exclusive properties. In 2018 Noosa claimed the top 3 sales in the whole of Queensland, with the highest reportedly maxing out at $18 million. The area certainly is no stranger to the rich and famous and yet has the most amazing laidback feel, which you are going to love.
The Variety
You’ll never feel out of place due to the variety on Hastings Street, which gives a truly welcoming and comforting feeling. It is not uncommon to stroll down the street and pass a manicured man in a suit, followed by another in boardies and a tee.
Meaning if you’d rather roll off the beach and into a bar, or if getting dolled up is more your style or if you’re anything in between then you’ll feel right at home. The impressive collection of boutiques and shops will have you buying an outfit for every occasion and leave me envious of your new wardrobe!
The Location
Hastings Street runs directly adjacent to the famous Noosa Main Beach, making it the perfect day trip or holiday destination. Noosa has a collection of beaches, all with one thing in common: crystal clear, turquoise blue water. Noosa Main Beach is the safest place to swim, with year-round patrols from the Noosa Surf Life Savers.
Protected by the headland of the Noosa National Park, the beach usually benefits from calmer waters, which is great for swimming and surfing alike. Noosa attracts some of the world’s best with the annual Noosa Festival of Surfing, seeing many of the pros all gather in the 10th World Surfing Reserve.
The Natural Beauty
A short walk from Hastings Street takes you to the beginning of the refurbished Park Road Boardwalk. This stunning 480m curved timber boardwalk gently meanders along the impressive coastline, making it the perfect link between Hastings Street and the world-famous Noosa National Park.
This is the beautiful gateway to the headland section of the National Park. From here, you can get access to more than 15 km of well-signed walking tracks and enjoy this natural wildlife sanctuary.
The Ambience
Hastings Street transforms at dusk, so make sure you stay until night falls. There is little else prettier than seeing the hundreds of fairy-lights gently illuminate the trees that line Hastings Street, offering a romantic and flattering light to guide you along as you window shop and choose your restaurant.
The Food
The restaurants are simply fabulous. From burgers to pasta, to seafood, there is little Hasting Street does not offer. Fine dining, European style cafes and casual eateries all ensure that the hunger pangs will be kept at bay.
Unusually for a famous beach location, there are only a handful of ocean-facing places to eat and drink. Naturally, these have an unquestionable desirable appeal. However, don’t be put off by eating on Hastings Street itself, the street exudes atmosphere as people spill out of bars and restaurants. There are many places I could recommend to you, but honestly, you cannot beat gently strolling along the street as the fairy lights turn on and simply heading into whatever venue takes your fancy.
The Accommodation
Hastings Street also offers a beautiful collection of places to stay both street and beach facing. You can’t help but to be envious of the lucky campers with a swimming pool overlooking Noosa Main Beach, all while being in the heart of Hastings Street. Yes, you might pay a little extra for this prime location but it’s the ultimate location with world-class shopping and dining all a stone’s throw away.
